Welcome to Brotherville Knife Co.

Hello, my name is Peter Pruyn.Welcome to my website. I lived the majority of my life in New York where I started making knives as a hobby. After moving here to Southern Oregon three years ago, I began to work more seriously and learned the stock removal method from my friend and mentor Gene Martin. I learned how to forge and became an ABS Apprentice Bladesmith from Mastersmith Mike Williams. I am also a member of the Professional Knifemakers Association. I flat grind, or forge, fixed blade knives using Damascus , San Mai, Stainless, and High-Carbon steels. I recently started to use Damascus made only by myself, or Al May, whom I admire greatly. I have been helped along the way by several people, including Mike Turner , Rick Smith, Dickie Robinson , Mike Williams ,and Don Borgwardt , but for the most part everything I know about making knives I learned from Gene Martin. He has helped me at every stage of the process and continues to do so. I owe him quite a bit.

I particularly enjoy working with Damascus steel, but I also work with 1095,1080, 8670, 5160, 0-1 and D-2. With stainless steels, I prefer ATS-34, CPM-154,and also S30V. I primarily make working and culinary knives. I have several styles of knives to choose from, some of which are pictured on this site. I will be adding photos of different styles as they become available. If you have a custom design in mind, I will be happy to make it for you.

I personally heat-treat all my High-Carbon steels, and my deep-hardening and Stainless steels as well.

All my handle materials are stabilized when necessary. I always have a very wide variety on hand from which to choose. I peen my bolsters and guards on which I can make out of Brass, Copper, Stainless, Damascus or Wrought Iron. If you see a style of knife that you like but would like to change the blade steel or handle material, just contact me. If you would like to see more photos of a particular knife, email me and I will send as many as you wish.

I am currently about 4 months out on custom orders. I also list knives for sale on Arizona Custom Knives from time to time.
